The Fruit of Trust

The Fruit of Trust

I’ve written a lot about trust recently, even going so far as to exclaim that “I take trust and my submission very seriously…” And I do. But even one who takes it seriously is not immune to bad choices from time to time.

And what of such a breach? What are the consequences? Certainly, they could result at the end of a dynamic, but wouldn’t there be more immediate repercussions?

In many cases, the commands of a Master or Dom are designed to keep the slave/submissive safe. So it would follow that a failure of the sub to comply with those commands (a breach of trust) could potentially put her in an unsafe situation, even a dangerous one. A significant issue, one a Dom or Master would be keen to address quite quickly if he is aware of it.

In online and long- distance dynamics, there are occasions where the sub may be tasked and the Dom is not immediately available to supervise, or even answer questions. He may be at work, or in a meeting, out of range, out of battery… any number of possibilities. The cause is irrelevant. The point is, what do you do? Have you discussed this scenario previously with him?

If you are like me, you’ve discussed it, many times, and there is a plan in place: safety first. I am always allowed to stop whatever task I am doing if there is an issue of safety that has arisen, without fear of reprisal or even criticism. I can count on “Good girl” in that instance without fail.

But what of the day, when I should stop but I don’t? When I wait for Master’s response, rather than making my own choice and stopping on my own? Thatis when reprisals will come. Because that is the moment I will have broken his trust. Safety is no longer first. That which he values is put at risk without his consent.

So, if you haven’t had this sort of conversation before with your partner,, please do so! Trust is the key not only to a healthy dynamic but also to maintaining a safe environment; he needs to be able to trust that you will participate in maintaining your own safety. You need to have enough trust to keep yourself safe when he isn’t available.

Safety first. But it all stems from trust.
