Simply said a munch is good for getting vetted...period...it simply puts a name to an online nickname and proves your real.

Meanwhile your eating w complete strangers and having nothing really in common with them..oh wait your both kinky, but kink is off the menu at your local restraunt gathering.

That pretty much sums up a munch

There is a local group that has monthly munches. When I look to see who is attending most often its always men......makes me wonder why do the ladies stay away...….I think i'll pass.

I'll prefer to go sit in a park enjoy sun and drink - munching in park

"I have met people from here at munches, but honestly I'd prefer to just meet them for [coffee] someplace...[and I'not] "not wild about the cliquey thing. "

Yes.
Seems that you, like me, really, see eye to eye on this still.
I appreciate your points of view Dancer.

COLOR skyblue]PS^^^

And - I have a Perception that in the gatherings I've attended...lifers of Color in mostly non-POC spaces have a particular 'clique-exclusion' problem. Not everywhere I hope - but in many places (munches in particular), yes. Just a

My Perception alone, though; this may neither be true nor a universal reality.

I'm not interested in joining a group that would have me as a member.

When I was a tween I went to a few. I found them like I find a chatoom. Same mentality. Snicker snicker. Loaded with gossip. While there mayne have been 150 people there found myself joined to 5/6 people in which I met in a chatoom here before attending these munches. We would all go to explore and meet friends. Again aside from having kink in common its much like going to a bat. I will say I've nevet learned anything useful at a munch but thats just my experiences.

The ironic thing is the ones i had met there the 5/6 were great life sgyle friends and still are 12 years later.

I have attended a few munches/sloshes in the past in my area, and some in the Chicago suburbs. I have not gone in over ten years because the Chicago ones were so full of bullshit and politics it made me feel sorry for those people.

My 'local' ones were a bit of a distance, because so many people are afraid of others knowing their business, and it was a lot of the same few people. Of course there was a lot of cliquishness at the local ones too. The chat groups here have not been active for over a year so if I do have the opportunity to meet someone it will be in a vanilla setting one on one with lots of people around.
