Maybe you should go back and just look her straight in the eye when you go back

We English have learned that sometimes being very rude to certain people is the only way to get proper service. It reminds them that they provide a service. I know we English are renowned for our good manners but sometimes well we just have to. Sorry.

And that's fine too. I did mean to just stand tall (as much as you can) and not be rude but also letting her know you will not be intimidated either. You can still be polite about it unlike other (ahem) "adults"

The fact that she did not apologise for short changing you is truly heinous (and suggests to my ungenerous spirit that this was not a mistake but that she had darker intent. As ever, your expletive ridden rant has left me shocked and almost speechless. I do wish you could learn to control your anger and please, PLEASE moderate that potty-mouth of yours!

I am completely on your side. Some establishments need to train their employees to remember who the customer really is. I don't like confrontation but i would have asked to see the manager.

But the question is whether a "chicken-heart" can stand tall and look someone in the eye if the other person isn't actively being nasty? And the answer is, that this "chicken-heart" anyway, finds it difficult. Given my "druthers," I'll vote for hiding under the covers any time there's unpleasantness brewing.

A coward? Yup! At least mostly, anyway.

You could simply take your place in line and if you do happen to get her, look her in the eyes, smile and see what happens. I didn't mean for you to be an Alpha... that's not your style.

How fortunate that you were able to return to this island of tranquility and decorum to validate your behaviour.

Based on what you've told us all, she sounds like someone who shouldn't really be in a customer facing role. You were really quite restrained, which, as an afterthought, sounds very appropriate for here.

I do not believe, even for a sliver, in reading this exchange, you were rude. She was condescending, as you have recounted your story to you. How unpleasant and rude of her.
I can understand your reaction, and I understand as well when one steps out of their comfort zone to feel terrible about it. Yet, at times, such reactions are necessary.

I would, like you, avoid her the next I am in the branch.

Give me address of bank and her description - someone deserves to be spanked by such rude customer service.

It seems as if customer service has fallen by the wayside everywhere.
